Projects
  • Deep Learning for Cancer Classification with Gene Expression Data: Deep learning approach to classifying cancer types. Data from NHI Cancer Data public repo, with 32 different cancer types. The model accuracy is more than 97% with c.2% false positive/negative rates. DL model includes auto-encoder, 1D Convolution Net, fully-connected Neural Net.
  • Parallelized Interactive Machine Learning on Autonomous Vehicles: Development of an interactive reinforcement learning pipeline for autonomous driving from a game simulation. The simulator is from Microsoft AirSim and driving environment is simulated from Unreal Engine.
  • CatsHub App Entrepreneurship: Development of student-oriented phone application that simplifies stu- dent’s life by providing a one-stop shopping service hub. The original idea was from the University of Kentucky student organization. We pitched and created prototype, and won venture reward.
  • Distributed Classification of EEG Signals for Automated Sleep Stage Scoring: Big Data Map Reduce approach to implement traditional machine learning classification algorithms (Random Forest and SVM) on sleeping data (over 1000GB). Due to data limitations, only 70% accuracy achieved. On-going project.

Interests

I have undertaken considerable volunteer work, but the most rewarding act of service has been the sponsoring of two children from Romania and Armenia for the past six years. I communicate with these students frequently, encouraging them, and making them feel that there’s someone in their corner.

I am an active member of a number of university societies. I was the Vice-President and Treasurer of my department student organization. My roles in this included recruiting members, organizing social events and promoting a healthy and energetic learning environment for ever member.

I am also an avid runner, having completed the regional/local 2 peaks challenge last summer. Other interests include playing the violin, participating in local ventures and Hackthons, poem writing, and technology blogging.
